Zwartwater White Blend '24
Lammershoek's new custodian, Stefan Johannes, preserves the purity and energy of the famed Swartland site with the maiden release of Zwartwater Wines. Â
This Estate White blend pays homage to one of South Africa's greatest Chenin Blanc blocks and the complementary varietals planted nearby that add to its complexity. White cultivars from old vines are picked, pressed and placed in three vessels—concrete eggs, new oak barrels, and some seasoned ones—for 10 months of maturation. After this they are blended and left to meld for an extra six months before bottling.
The generosity of the land and its enduring character is captured by a nose of pink apple skin and star jasmine; an elegant palate of honey, salted almond, and lemon pith; and a textured salivating finish.
Rich and restrained.
