Intellego Syrah '22
A tribute to the changing seasons that shape each vintage and Jurgen's enduring passion for Syrah.
The label complements the Intellego Chenin Blanc, with the two artworks representing the contrasting seasons of summer and winter. Together they reflect the profound influence the seasons have on the vines and the quality of the fruit, celebrating the natural rhythms that define every vintage.
Sourced from a dry-farmed Swartland bush-vine vineyard planted in 1999, the vines grow in granite soils, producing fruit with both intensity and finesse. The grapes undergo whole-bunch fermentation under semi-carbonic conditions for 10 days before being transferred to old 500L oak barrels, where the wine matures for a further 12 months. This gentle approach preserves freshness and aromatic lift while allowing the stems to contribute structure and complexity without overwhelming the fruit.
The wine reveals balanced layers of dark berries, black pepper, and savory spice, supported by a textured palate, vibrant acidity, and structured finish without being too intense.
