Angelo van Dyk reveals a different expression of the typically full-bodied Mourvèdre with gentle extraction and a light touch.

Organic grapes grown in the tranquil shadow of the Swartland's Kasteelberg undergo whole-bunch fermentation in open-top fermenters for 4-5 days with daily cap submersions. After pressing, the juice settles overnight before being racked into large, old barrels for 12 months of maturation. Bottled unfined and unfiltered.

Angelo's first wine was a Syrah & Grenache blend he named 8:49 in homage to an old watch that, after being chewed by a friend's dog, had an alarm permanently set 8:49pm. This served as a daily reminder to slow down and check in with one's loved ones. This new addition to the 8:49 name serves the same purpose but with a bright, floral nose and a luxuriously textured palate of charcuterie and ripe cherry jam.
